King-Garvey Loans
Purpose
To provide emergency funds to students who show need. The loan
should be used to purchase textbooks or assist in an unusual
extenuating circumstance. It cannot serve as money for entertainment.
Amount of Loan
The loan can be a minimum of $10.00 to a maximum of $100.00.
Eligibility
Applicants must be:
1. Student of UW Oshkosh (must have ID)
2. Served by either:
· Center for Academic Support and Diversity or
· Student Support Services (SSS)
Application Procedure
1. Request loan in Dempsey 131; fill out application.
2. Take application to cashier's office to sign and receive
cash. You will be given the blue copy for your records.
3. The loan is due within thirty (30) days.
Payment Procedure
1. Repay loan at the cashier's window. NOTE: King-Garvey loans
do not show up on total amounts due. For example, if you ask
the cashier's office the total amount you owe the university
for tuition and all fees, your King-Garvey loan amount will
not show up in this total; you must know you still have the
loan out and tell them to credit your payment to the King-Garvey
loan. If you do not repay the loan in thirty (30) days, a STOP
will be placed on your record, which will restrict your ability
to do things such as register for classes or receive your diploma.
The STOP will be removed from your record by the cashier's office
staff at the time of payment.
2. Keep your receipt! Bring it to Dempsey 131 so we can make
a copy for our records.
STOPs
If you do not repay the loan in thirty (30) days, a STOP will
be placed on your record, which will restrict your ability to
do things such as register for classes or receive your diploma.
In the past, STOPs were lifted temporarily to allow students
to register. This will no longer be done. Payment in full must
be received in order for STOPs to be lifted.
Unavailability
At some times during the year, King-Garvey loans are not available.
