Early Warning Intervention Program (EWI)
Established for the 1993-94 academic year through a joint effort
of the Center for Academic Support and Diversity and the Faculty Advisory
Council, this program is intended to closely monitor the academic
progress of multicultural and disadvantaged students on a course-by-course
basis. It is designed to give students feedback from class professors
and advisors, letting students know how they are doing in classes
over the course of the semester and giving students who need
it the opportunity to get assistance to successfully complete
the course.
Professors are asked to report on student progress after the
4th, 7th and 11th weeks of classes. The reports are returned
to the Division's counselors/advisors to initiate intervention
or provide positive feedback. The counselor/advisors call and/or
meet with students who professors recommend intervention. Advisors
refer students to tutors or other campus resources for assistance.
