Multicultural Achievement Award (MAA)
The Multicultural Achievement Award (MAA) is
a scholarship awarded each spring to six students who show
academic excellence and leadership through active involvement
in the campus and community. Scholarships are awarded in the
form of $250 book vouchers, redeemable at the University Bookstore.
To qualify, students must be U.S. citizens or
permanent residents who [are a member of an underrepresented
group (African American, Asian American, Hispanic American
or Native American)] have declared an ethnicity other than
caucasion on their UW Oshkosh application and have a cummulative
GPA of 2.5 or above. All qualified students are invited to
apply in early February.
Applicants must submit:
- a one-page, double-spaced, typed personal statement explaining
why they should be selected for the award;
- a list of campus and community involvement including the
organization name, position/office held, number of years/months
involved and responsibilities/experiences (examples include
-- but are not limited to -- university and community clubs,
extra-curricular activities, internships, study/travel experiences,
conferences, presentations and awards);
- two letters of reference (one must be from a faculty member).
