Multicultural Retention Programs
The office of Multicultural Retention Programs serves as an
umbrella for a variety of programs and services. These programs
and services provide academic and student support services to
help increase the recruitment, matriculation, enrollment, rentention,
and graduation of multicultural and disadvantaged (M/D) students
at the University of Wisconsin Oshkosh. Additionally, Multicultural
Retention Programs works closely with faculty, staff and community
members who are interested in improving cross-cultural relations
and understanding cultural differences. Multicultural Retention
Programs provide a number of services and events and activities
directly and/or through co-sponsorship or collaboration with
other university departments.
In collaboration with the Multicultural Education Center (MEC)
and the six student organizations housed there (American Indian
Student Association, Asian Student Association, Black Student
Union, Hispanic Cultures United, Hmong Student Union, and the
MEC Student Board), the Multicultural Retention Programs counselors,
each serving as a student organization advisor, develop cultural
programs and activities to increase the level of understanding
and appreciation for cultural diversity both on campus and in
the community.
