Men of Color Initiative at UW Oshkosh

The Division of Academic Support of Inclusive Excellence at UW Oshkosh offers student services for men of color students.

Mission Statement

Established in 2017 by the Division of Academic Support of Inclusive Excellence at UW Oshkosh, the mission of the Men of Color Initiative (MOCI) at UW Oshkosh is to provide academic support and guidance, cultural understanding, leadership development, and mentoring to male students of color (i.e. African American, American Indian, Asian/Hmong American, and Latino/Hispanic American). The MOCI is designed to create programs and services that support persistence, retention and graduation for male students of color and to assist with college transition issues unique to them.

Vision

The MOCI’s vision is to help all male students of color at the University fulfill their dream of graduation.

The MOCI offers:

  • Tutoring and study groups
  • Connection to student organizations
  • Assistance finding internships
  • Student advocacy and assistance
  • One-on-one cultural support and guidance
  • Campus/community events and activities
  • Leadership and professional development
  • Open dialogue forums through Brother2Brother Talks
  • Mentorship opportunities
